Since becoming President of the Philippines a few months ago, Rodrigo Duterte has been making waves with a number of great statements outlining his hard-hitting anti-crime-and-drugs policy.
A few weeks ago he boasted that he personally shot criminals when serving mayor of Davao City, in order to set a good example for his police force.
His latest comment, however, tops that with a proud claim that he threw a kidnapper out of a helicopter in mid-flight, emulating the method of execution used by General Pinochet's forces in Chile following the anti-Communist coup in 1973.
Duterte's comments were made as a warning to corrupt officials with the President threatening to repeat the process if necessary.
"If you are corrupt, I will fetch you with a helicopter and I will throw you out on the way to Manila,” Duterte threatened. "I have done it before, why should I not do it again?"
He softened the comments a little by adding that he told the pilot to fly at a suitable a height to avoid the splatter "causing a commotion."
